About Teater Eksem
(Eksem is Swedish for Eczema)

Teater Eksem is a nongovernmental organisation, founded in 2006, operating in Gothenburg, Sweden and the world.

The basis for Teater Eksem is us, its members, our desire to work together and our passion for the theatre. We are driven by our commitment and interest in issues that are close to us, as well as beyond our private sphere. We want to work for and with the audience.

We want to make theatre that is like that scab you just cannot stop scratching; like the ache in your muscles after a hard workout; like the feeling when you have stopped to eat and sleep because you are so damn in love. No one should leave the auditorium drowsy after having slept away the final act.

We strive to explore, describe, update, twist and turn our own and your contemporary period and history. We want to renew us and the theatre by giving form to dreams, longing, anxiety, lust, perversions, feelings and thoughts.

Besides our national productions - which as of today have included, but not being limited to: Life x 3, The Vagina Monologues and Diary of a Madman - we are working on an international project: The Orientations Trilogy. The project ends with an opening of the three plays in the trilogy, in London, in September 2010 and will then tour to China and hopefully also Sweden!
