About Teater Eksem
(Eksem is Swedish for Eczema)
Theatre that affects. Like an eczema we want to spread an itching interest for theatre and drama. We strive to present theatre that means something, that concerns and really reaches our audience. We don't want anyone leaving the auditorium slumbrous after snoring away the last act. We want to show theatre when it is like the scab you just can't stop picking at - because you enjoy it. When it is like ache from a tough training session - and you like it. Like when you can't eat or sleep because you are madly in love - but it doesn't matter.
Through bruise wound-dramas, training ache-thrillers, can't sleep-comedies with romantic elements and much, much more we want to infect the (theatre) world with our bug. Let's face it: theatre is a disease, and there is no remedy for Teater Eksem!
Teater Eksem is a nongovernmental organisation, founded in 2006. It is run by its members and stages modern and classical drama. The group is based in Gothenburg, but tour other parts of Sweden. Since the start the group has presented plays like
Life X 3 by Yasmina Reza,
The Vagina Monologues by Eve Ensler and Swedish playwriter Staffan Göthe's
En natt i februari (One Night in February). 2008 holds the premiere of
Jack and Jill by Jane Martin and the first performance of
Dagen efter kvällen före (The Day After the Night Before) written by group member Vanja Öjes Dahlberg. We will also take part in an international project, initiated by the English theatre group
Border Crossings, together with theatre and dance groups from France, India and China.
